So the planning is done, time to measure, tape & paint!
So Pinterest challenge #3 is to paint stripes in the guest bath. Last week I measured the room and it was 92" tall. Our ceiling is the beige color but I planned on painting it white so it will look bright on top. And since the baseboard is also white, it means I will need an odd number of stripes. So I took out a piece of paper and drafted a "blueprint" to see how tall the stripes should be and how many stripes I will end up with. At the end I settled on 11 stripes, each approximately 8.34" tall. I also approximately drew in where the light, mirror & painting would be and hoped that they would be centered in the stripes. As you see, the light (shown as the circle) isn't centered but the mirror & painting (shown as rectangles) look better centered. And honestly, I can always move the painting so that it ends up dead centered. By the way, If you don't understand this drawing, it's okay. I think I'm the only one that understands it (much like my handwriting). It's whole purpose was to give me a visual picture of what the room will look like before stripes end up on the wall. I'm a very visual learner. I then contemplated on what color the stripes should be. I've brought paint chips of varying creams and white home and I felt like I was splitting hairs trying to decide on a color. So at last I just took out our Glidden white-on-white paint sample (same paint we used for stenciling) and gave it a try. Don't know about you but that looks pretty good to me! I decided right then and there to just get a gallon of straight up white paint - nothing added. I settled on the Olympic brand because it emits less VOC.
