As you know, I took Friday off and I did house errands until around 2pm-ish. After that I went to the mall to return the $35 peacoat from AE. Yea, it was sad. It's actually a really nicely made coat, but my arms are just too short so I decided to return it. After that I turned my attention to flowers for tribute to elders.
At Pacifica church we have tribute to elders once a year, usually around Jan or Feb. And due to the scarcity of people and the fact that everyone else is so busy, the making of the corsages usually fall on me. This is something I look forward to actually. It's nice having an excuse to buy flowers. :)
So after the mall, I went to Michael's to get floral wire, floral tape, corsage pins and ribbons. I stood at the ribbon aisle for a good 10 minutes because I wasn't sure what color to get. I hadn't gotten the flowers yet so I really had nothing to go on. At first I was thinking of getting yellow, but I didn't like the particular shade of yellow they offered. At the end I went with this magenta/hot pink one because I thought it was such a pretty color.
Then I went to Trader Joe's hoping that there will be some nice flowers to buy. I walked in and was immediately greeted by mini calla lilies. They were $7.99 for a bunch of around 15. I would need to get 2 bunches. I do like single calla lilies for corsages, they are so simple and elegant all by themselves. But I moved along the flower selection and saw these gorgeous pink & magenta wax flowers. I loved them immediately and I knew they would be a beautiful backdrop for flowers that have a simpler color/form. So I picked up two bunches (one pink, one magenta) and continued to scour the flower selection and finally spotted the mini white daisies -- only one bunch left! Perfect! So at the end I had 3 bunches of flowers in tow ($3.99 per bunch!) and I checked out.
And here they are happily resting in our home. :) Aren't they gorgeous? My best flower pairing ever (if I do say so myself!). And I was so blessed that the color of ribbon I chose was perfect. Ah, thank God!
Sunday morning we had our monthly morning prayer and rehab visitation. Then we had lunch together with church people. And then some sisters went to a salon to get facials/massages (we all got this Bloomspot coupon last year!). I got my first facial in the US and I actually really liked it! I think my skin literally glowed (okay, it was shiny) afterwards. And it felt really smooth. I suppose that's a good thing? :)
And then it was evening. And we went home. Then we went to Ikea for dinner (I was craving chicken strips...again). We walked through Ikea to get more steps on the pedometer. Came home. David finally beat an impossible level of Majesty and we cheered. We then washed up to get ready for bed. My lower back was killing me so David massaged it (thank you, honey!). Then he read the Bible to me because I could not sit up (boo to lower back pains). And then we fell asleep.
What a fulfilling weekend.
