So I've been sort of trying to muster enough courage to even start the project. Here's the bench as purchased and you can see there are two welt cords on it which screamed to me "difficult sewing upholstery job!".
Here's what the underside of the chair looks like. Don't let that one lovely row of staples fool you. There are 3 layers underneath that one, each a bit trickier than the last to remove. :)
Removing staples is not particularly a high-skill task but it does take patience and determination. After all, it's you against thousands of staples! But no need to shy away from the project just because of this either. If you can remove one staple, you can remove them all.
So as I said when we removed the third layer of staples, I learned that the first welt cord is completely secured by staples! The cord just lifted right off the chair! That actually made me quite happy because I was afraid there was some skilled sewing involved. A huge relief for my sewing-challenged self.
So this step definitely takes some patience and time. We just listened to pandora and talked while we worked. And here is the staples litter we created. :) Ah, such a feast for my eyes.
