The last time I remember going to the farmer's market was when it was still apple season! So needless to say, we're pretty happy to have the time to go this past Sunday. We woke up pretty early (for us) on Sunday, between 8-9am. We laid in bed for a while, caught up on Hay Day, and just took our sweet time getting out of bed. We had a light breakfast and then set out to Farmer's Market by bike. The market was crowded and the weather was just perfect! I can't believe it's already strawberry season. I loved the herbs display from this stand. Those chives are so perfect, it makes me want to try growing them again. We bought these almonds from the market. I knew almonds looked like this from the outside, so that didn't surprise me. What surprised me was that these were completely edible! At this stage of the almond, it's soft enough to eat the whole thing. As you can see below, the almond is still forming and has not hardened yet. It is extremely crunchy and has a slightly sour and sweet taste combined. The Armenian lady whom we bought these from said to take a bite, dip in salt and finish off the rest. Mmm...the salt makes it really good. I swiftly ate all of the almonds in one sitting. Wish we got more! We also splurged on these eggs at the market. We fried two for dinner and they were so good. We also got a basket of strawberriers which were absolutely divine. Fresh and on season food taste so good! After snacking on our loot, we proceeded to work on the garden. The recent rain, though welcome, left a carpet of leaves, dirt and general debris on the ground. David swept the entire area and it looked so much better! We also work on the garden bed and the lemon bush. It was a nice to work outside and get some exercise! Then at around 2:40 pm, David left to go to San Jose Church for a meeting. I was pondering what to do when he was gone. After mulling around the house listlessly, I decided it was better to go out and kill some time. So I went to World Market and browsed around. It's been months since I've been there so it was nice to see what's new. I saw these Adirondack chairs and was a bit tempted by them. Wouldn't it look nice in our tomato balcony? :) Then I went home and waited for David to come home by keeping track of the Spurs game. (Yay we narrowly won by 20 points!). Then we cooked a healthy and hearty dinner and enjoyed a quiet evening together. What a lovely day it was.
