When we got home from work one day last week, we saw that somehow our ripening Brandywine tomato disappeared! We hurried outside and saw this at a corner of the garden. NO! I was so upset at this sight. My precious tomato that has been slowly growing and ripening for at least a month has been stolen by a squirrel and he didn't even finish it! My big, juicy tomato. :( *sniff. I hope no one steals this one that's currently on the vine. I'm crossing my fingers. Please leave this one alone, squirrels. You can have all the strawberries you want. Just so this post isn't a complete downer, Bob and Magellan (aka baby mourning doves) are doing well! They've graduated from the nest. It's so fun to try to spot where they're sitting in the garden. They're always together. :)

Awww... that was a prize size tomato, too. I've heard of other people at church complaining about the same thing. I think one of them ended up putting socks on the tomatoes as they formed, to keep away squirrels.

Socks? Oh wow would've never thought of that! When should I put one on? Would now be okay or should I wait until it begins to ripen?
