Here is what the garage looks like today! I know, i know. It's not "done" or "pretty", but it is good progress.
- The left one holds all our household supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, kleenix, lysol wipes, etc). Much easier knowing what to buy during our Costco runs now!
- The 2nd shelf from the left has our recycling bins at the very bottom. Lightbulbs, batteries, and paper bags are also sorted into different boxes (which I still need to label!).
- The 2nd shelf from the right holds the power tools, bike/sporting gear and spray paints.
- And the rightmost shelf holds leftover paint cans, burlap, and a bin of extra blankets.
These bins hold our most used hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers). We also put things we use the most in various bins, making it less frustrating when we are in the middle of something. I want to add a pegboard above the white bookcase to hang the hammer & mallet.
I do hope there will be a second garage cleaning post because here are things I'd like to still do:
- Sweep the floor
- Install a pegboard
- Get rid of the chairs
- Find a home for the wire shelving that is currently empty
- Find a home for the bakeware
- Move all boxes to the side of the wall (fantasy: put up sliding panels to cover them up)
- Here's another fantasy: replace the rugs with a prettier one and possibly put up some art? :)
But for now, walking through the garage no longer reminds me of my long overdue goal. Walking through a clean space makes coming home that much nicer. Happy winter cleaning, everyone. :)
