I saw my sister at the wedding this past weekend and as usual, I just wished we had more time to talk. With our distance and the fact that neither of us are phone people or internet chatters anymore, we just don't talk much.
The last time we got to talk a little was when I visited her in Sequim this past July. After breakfast one day, we just naturally settled into a conversation. It was mainly me describing my work and why I don't feel so motivated to work and...well I just wanted to get her opinion on the matter. Unfortunately, we were hurried to leave the table and get ready for an outing.
Sometimes I wish when we visit each other we can truly just visit each other and not bother about visiting the place (even though she often lives in touristy areas).
I'm thankful for my sister because she's been the most supportive person in my life. She was supportive of my going to Japan, of attending Stanford and of marrying David. And now she's supportive of this whole online business thing.
I had found some coffee burlap bags in Seattle, from people who upcycle them. I had asked her to buy 2 dozen bags for me as part of something I wanted to sell on our online store. She ended up bringing 1 dozen bags to the wedding and I was so sorry that I asked her to bring anything more than 1 bag after I saw the size. The dozen bags literally filled 90% of her carry-on luggage! Poor thing was lugging these coffee bags and nothing else! I'm so sorry!! :( :( I really had no idea they were so huge! Thank you for finding them, buying them and lugging it down!
I feel like we both have so much life left (well, God willing) and I really hope we can grow closer because I know we can. I've read an article in Times magazine many years ago that talk about the value of siblings. How they're the only people who are with you for the entire journey. Parents will leave you, spouses come in midway, but siblings are with you for the whole thing. And I totally agree with that. Siblings have a special perspective and place that cannot be replaced.
So thank you, zhe zhe!
