I was assured by several people that it's good enough to watch and it won't be so scary. But they were wrong. For a good 30 minutes after the movie, I made David turn on all the lights and remain by my side. *Sigh. I have no spine.
For those who haven't seen the movie yet, the story is about a group of people who specialize in going into people's dreams to extract some information out of them, known as "extraction". One day, they got the ultimate job that requires them to plant an idea into someone's mind, known as "inception". Apparently it has never been done before and it takes an elaborate plot of being in a dream within a dream within a dream to accomplish.
I was actually quite alright with the premise of the film. What disturbed me was, for people who often go into dreams, they have created sort of an alternate reality so they're messed up about what is real and what is fake. What also disturbed me was, that people can go into someone's mind to take information or implant information. Does that disturb you, too?
As I thought about these seemingly far-flung concepts, I am saddened because with the advancement of technology and with people just getting smarter, things like this become more plausible. That already we are in an age of cyber warfare. By my estimation, if we fast forward down time, people will probably be destroying one another remotely, using some sort of deception and this world will be even more complicated.
This really made me glad that we still live in a relatively simple time. Although, I would've loved to live in a simpler time before planes and the computer. When people just till the ground and eat the fruit of their labor. When ideas such as neighbors, morality and conscience still prevailed for the most part. I guess, back to a time when people see themselves more human and less as gods.
