So our polished crema marble (yes! and it wasn't expensive!) countertop arrived on Tuesday and was successfully installed. I went sort of super luxe and chose an ogee square finish...which you can't really appreciate from this photo. Actually, it looks like a pretty boring piece of stone from this picture. Sorry, I really don't know how to take photos because it looks amazing in real life. In the words of David: "Now our tub area looks blah." Okay he didn't say "blah" but something to that effect.
Our cheapness did not come without a price though. We ran into a host of trials. First of all, underneath this beautiful countertop is a piece of 3/4" plywood. The fabricators who installed the counter drilled holes in the marble for the faucet holes, but not the plywood. We scratched our heads for like 10 minutes before figuring out that we can just get a wood drill attachment thing. Btw, when I say "we" in this post, just read "David". I was busy and barely helped.
Then when we were finally able to start installation, we realized that our sink drain hole and the water line do not match up. What to do? We ended up getting a vice grip thing to unscrew the water line. Long story short, it worked. Then the pop-up drain thing proved to be quite a challenge the first time around.
I hope this does not discourage you in any way. We're complete amateurs though, so I'm sure if you were to install the faucet, you would've done better. Just know that we own a 7.5V drill. (I laughed at David at its weakness until I realized that I didn't even own a drill.)
And at the end, we (definitely read David here) got both faucets working without leaks!!! And here it is. :) I think the faucets really make the vanity. It just adds something nice to it. Not sure what. But it's nice. And I like.
