We flew from SFO to Zurich on August 26th at 7:35 PM. Here are some blessings on the flight:
- We couldn't check in for some reason the night before because the system didn't recognize our reservation number. Thankfully when we got to the airport on Sunday, everything went well.
- We did get assigned two middle seats, but just like our Taiwan trip, thank God this time the seat next to me happened to be empty so we just scooched over. Really thank God because a couple sitting in front of us were trying to ask people to switch seats with them but people actually refused!
- The toddler, dog and teens next to us were all quiet during the flight. :) Neither of us slept much but somehow we were very upbeat and energetic.
We arrived in Zurich at around 3:20PM. Our connecting flight to Paris leaves at 4:40 PM so we had just about an hour to make the connection. Thank God. No drama at all. We picked up our luggages, took the tram to change terminals and walked to our gates. We even had enough time to brush our teeth and chill out for a while!
As we lifted off from Zurich we saw the beautiful Alps and the beautifully green and lush Switzerland. Next time, we'll stay awhile. :)
And sorry, didn't take a picture of the train because it was crowded like sardines and we both felt so gross by this point. Like sweaty armpits, gross hair, gross face--the whole nine yards of grossness. Thankfully at least we brushed our teeth at Zurich! :) And thank God, the train arrived as we were on the escalator down to the platform and when we got on the train, it turned out to be an express train and we got to Les Halles station pretty fast! I think it was like half an hour instead of 50 minutes.
Les Halles station is known to be super maze-like. It's like a little city in itself. If you've been to Shinjuku station, just picture that. There are 8 exits (sorties) and we had no idea which exit to take. We followed people's advice, which was to just take the first exit you see and figure out your direction above ground. So we took the Les Halles Forum exit. Here I am above ground!
On the way we even found the ATM and withdrew some cash. We were wondering how to call the property manager because the pay phones seem to require some sort of pin card, but thankfully, when we got to the door a guy asked, "Are you Jennifer Lee?"
And that was how we peacefully arrived at our flat at around 7:30PM. It's a very simple and no-frills studio around 100 meters from the Louvre.
