So last night David asked me what I wanted to do today and I said that I wanted to go hiking. I figured starting a new year with exercise can only be a good thing. Little did I know that he woke up early and did all this research on best hiking spots! And little did I know I would be waking up at 11 AM on the first day of the year. Oh brother. I really hope this is not indicative of the rest of the year.
Anyway I woke up, David made us breakfast (okay, lunch) and we set off for Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve. It's not far from us, basically 30 minutes due west all the way up the Santa Cruz mountains.
We've been up here quite a few times now because there are tons of hiking trails. When we were residents of Palo Alto, we visited Foothills Park and it was lovely. We also went on a docent-guided tour of wild edible berries at another OSP. So all in all, we're fans of the area. And today, we visited Skyline Ridge OSP.
Thank God, parking was easy and we crossed this underground tunnel to begin our hike.
