Our lettuce have sprouted! After only 4 days in the ground! See tiny sprouts in planter! After growing plants from seed a few times now, I realize the first set of leaves are very different from the final leaf shape of the plants. It's very interesting to me. :) So it's always quite a mystery when something has just sprouted. I feel God has a wonderful sense of humor in spurring our curiosities. I can't wait until these little sprouts grow to yummy lettuce leaves! Don't know if you remember but last time I showed you the lemon thyme it had some very bright green spots in the leaves. Well since then we've put a taller plant next to it to provide some shade and I think it looks fabulous. The leaves look so healthy and green. It just makes me so relieved and happy that it's growing well. David has picked quite a few lemon flowers from the bush to encourage leaf growth and concentrate fruit in only areas we want. We're trying to train our lemon bush to grow upward instead of outward. So we're hoping that by plucking flowers from where they're not supposed to be, they'll grow in other areas. So far I think it's working. We have lots of new, healthy, tender leaves on the bush. :) And the calla lily is back! They're bulb plants like tulips so they return every year. Hopefully this year we'll get a flower. I'm crossing my fingers and buying fish emulsion this year. :) And I mentioned that the strawberry is flowering so I decided to take a closeup picture of the flower. Eventually the white petals will fall and that yellow bump in the middle will grow into a strawberry. Then the green strawberry will gradually turn red. It's a very cute process to watch. Seeing all these healthy plants are very rewarding and heartwarming for me. I would even go so far to say that I feel joy when I see them thrive!

I love watching my husband draw. It's like magic. I believe that's Paul and a soldier? 5/12 Update: Here's the final masterpiece!
I had a totally different Sunday from the one I had in my mind when I laid down for bed on Saturday. I was thinking I would get out of bed at around 8 am. Go to the garden to soak up the sunshine and water the plants. (I've been trying to wake up earlier to water the plants because I heard it's better watering in the morning than watering in the afternoon when we get home). Then we would walk to the Farmer's Market and get the week's grocery. Then we would go to a nursery to pick up a slicer tomato plant. Then we would plant them. Then I would come home and do a major house cleaning. I can't remember the last time I vacuumed and that scares me. Well, let's just say my Sunday did not go that way at all. I woke up at 10 am and I think it was pretty much downhill from there. Don't know why I was so tired but I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed. And I was in such a bad mood, too. I went downstairs to check out the garden and noticed that there were either droppings or sap splattered all over the white bench cushion. Yup. Not a great way to start a day. I then started looking for the Dr. Bronner's soap I had bought. I knew I put it in the kitchen somewhere but just could not find it. I finally found it in the garage and I felt so upset at David because I asked him if he knew where it was and he said he didn't. I feel terrible now for being upset. Putting something in the garage and forgetting about it is not a heinous crime. *sigh. I blame PMS. As if to cancel all the unnecessary negativity of the morning, David told me to go outside to look at something. I was bracing myself for something terrible, like the birds pooped on all the cushions this time around, but he led me to witness this. Do you see it? It's a hummingbird's nest! I now have second thoughts about getting rid of the "smelly tree" (as we affectionately call it). I stared at it in complete disbelief for a while. No wonder Mr(s). Hummer has been hovering about this tree! It was building a nest!!! By this time the Farmer's Market was over. We both didn't feel like having lunch so I spent the next few hours sewing outdoor pillows. Here's #1. Actually outdoor pillows are not that different to me from indoor ones. The only thing I did was buy polypropylene cushion inserts from Ikea ($3 each) instead of the feather ones because they're more water resistant. Here's pillow #2. As for the fabric, I didn't go out and buy outdoor fabric. I just took out my stash and was relieved to see that the fabric I was hording for no reason finally had a use. If I had no fabric whatsoever, I would get outdoor fabric. But I was trying to stashbash so this worked for me. Plus you can always wash them, right? And here's pillow #3. By this time it was around 5pm or so. David and I decided to go to Palo Alto for dunch but decided at the last minute to just have Yogurtland instead because we were still not that hungry. It was super hot (like 80s) so we got a huge cup of yogurt. It was really good. :) Then we watched a movie at Aquarius. Aquarius is this tiny theater in Palo Alto downtown and they show movies that are more off the beaten path. Like lesser known fills or documentaries you may see at Sundance. We saw Jiro Dreams of Sushi, which came highly recommended to us by a church sister. We both thought it was good but not sure if we would highly recommend it to others. It was a movie about this 85 year old man called Jiro, who is probably the best sushi chef in the world. His tiny restaurant that seats 10 in Ginza station won the 3-star Michelin rating. The film shows his dedication and relentlessness in perfecting sushi. You can tell the film just tells the story as it is and does not try to fabricate a dramatic plot or sensationalize it, which was appreciated. However it also meant the film is not super exciting or anything. So I would say it's one of those films if you happen to stumble in you would enjoy. But if it came highly recommended you may feel disappointed. And of course the film featured mouthwatering sushi after sushi. Which prompted us to go Sushi Tomi for dinner. Sushi Tomi is my favorite sushi place and it's conveniently located in Mountain View! I got the regular nigiri sampler but forgot to take a picture until I was halfway done already. David got what I usually order when I'm here: Tekka-don. Mmm. It's so good. I love how they do their rice, too. It's just perfect. It's also nice the ginger they serve is yellow and not the salmon-pink type. In Tokyo, you get yellow ginger because well, ginger is yellow! I also really like their complimentary hot green tea. It's definitely authentic and made with powdered matcha. But that's why I love Sushi Tomi so much. I feel it's authentic and unpretentious. It's food you would get in Japan. And that pretty much ended our Sunday. We got home at around 9 or 10. Took a shower and just wound down the day. It was quite an unproductive Sunday compared to the one I had in mind but that's okay. Perhaps it was what I needed after all.
After church we were deciding what to do for the rest of the evening when David suggested that we visit Lands End. Lands End is a park in San Francisco just along the Pacific coast. It's also where David proposed to me back in September 2008. So it's a special place for us. When we got there we were surprised to see this new building called Lands End Lookout. It must've been built within that last year. It's a beautiful and modern building. And this cafe had me at hello. :) I'm a lover of cafes and this one is just too cute. The Inside feels like a museum gift shop. The windows have breathtaking views to the Pacific. It happens to be a very sunny day. We left the lookout and decided to walk the coastal trail. This picture shows Sutro Baths, which is full of water right now I'm guessing because of the rain. And of course these familiar coastal cypress were there to greet us. The coastal trail takes you all the way to Golden Gate bridge if you want to walk the entire distance. Along the way we saw healthy nasturtiums! This is on my to-grow list because both the flowers and leaves are edible. I also love the leaf shape. :) About 40 minutes into our hike we had to climb a steep flight of stairs. So we decided to rest our legs on this fallen tree. Isn't it beautiful? This is the view from the fallen tree. Beautiful. We decided to turn around and head back after Eagle's Point. There was this super nice house there. The windows in the back has stunning view of the Pacific Ocean + Gold Gate bridge. We took the El Camino trail back because it's much shorter. It goes through Legion of Honor and the VA hospital and is a nice shaded walk. It was nice to stretch our legs and spend an hour in nature.
I've been thinking about getting a patio set for a while now and about 2 months ago I realized that I wanted a wood one. So last week I went to World Market and saw that there was an outdoor sale. Basically it's 20% off for any outdoor furniture and other accessories. Well actually I went because I saw this sale online and printed out the coupon hoping that the Valencia set that I had pinned a month ago finally arrived in the stores. And it did! Up until then I was seriously debating just getting this set from Target. I've had good experiences with the Smith & Hawken brand and the set looks very sleek. However they don't carry it in stores and there are no reviews at all, which sort of frigthens me. That in addition to not being able to return to stores had me feeling leery of pulling the trigger. And not to mention it was $899+tax at the time (now $767+tax), which would put me way over my furnishing budget for pretty much until Q3 of this year. So what I didn't tell you last week was after I saw the set, sat on it, loved it and confirmed with the stock room guy that they were in stock I called David. Yup, I'm that wife. The sale was only for the week and we had SC for the rest of the week and so I had convinced myself that it's now or never. So I called him literally at 8:40 pm (the store closes at 9pm) begging him with my sweetest wife voice to come to the store and to take a look. Thankfully, he agreed so I went home, picked him up and went back to the store. Thankfully WM is only 5 mins away from home. And...he liked it! I promise this doesn't always happen. Sometimes I'd be head over heels in love with something and he'd pass by and give it a "meh". Or he would usually find some quality deficiency or other things only reasonable and objective people would see. Annoying. :) Anyway, this time he liked it, too! Yay! So we decided to buy it. So the stock room guy grabbed us a bench, a coffee table and two chairs. The cashier rang everything up and it was only $375. Huh? I was so puzzled. I was sure the set was supposed to be $520 at the end. And then I realized that they had grabbed the "dining" bench and chairs instead of the "occasional" bench and chairs. Ugh. So the guy went back to the stock room and found out that they do have the occasional bench but no more occasional chairs. Insert super sad face here. So we decided to just buy the coffee table and bench first. The manager took down my name so they can call me as soon as they received the chairs. So this was last Tuesday. On Wednesday, I called another WM store to ask if they have any of the occasional chairs in stock. Nope. None of them had any in stock except for the store in Marin, which is 2 hours away. *sigh. But then they told me that 4 chairs should be arriving at the Mountain View store. Elated, I called the MV store. The lady very politely told me that if the manager already got my name they would call me when the chairs arrive. Thursday night was the beginning of our ESSC so I decided that I would not think about this anymore. It was my time to focus on my spiritual self and not about two occasional chairs. And so I did. I had decided that worst comes to worst I would just order the chairs online Sunday night after I come back from church since the sale ends on Sunday. It's just an extra $30 for shipping. I would not be petty with God. So ESSC happened and really thank God we had 6 baptisms! (If I ever gather my thoughts I'll post about this.) It also just so happened that an elderly sister passed away last week and so her memorial service was scheduled for Sunday afternoon after SC is over. So basically David and I didn't get home until past 9pm on Sunday because of cleanup and such. No complaints though, we both had many reflections about SC and realized again how wonderful it is to have good coworkers in Christ. Having good coworkers can really turn something bitter and difficult into something joyful. Anyway, so we got home past 9 and after showering I remembered that I should order the chairs. So I went online and guess what? The chair can't be found anywhere on the site! At first I thought I was too tired and missed it or something, but I slowly realized that it just was not there. The bench was there, the coffee table was there. But no chair. It wasn't even out of stock. It just wasn't there at all. That was when I told myself to be ready to return the coffee table and bench we had gotten. Well, another task for another day. So I went to bed. Two days later (Tuesday), I decided to call Mountain View WM to ask if they had received those 4 chairs that were coming in. To my surprise the guy told me that they had 1 of those chairs in stock. So strange. I didn't miss any calls. Did they forget to call me? At the end of the call, I decided to just go into the store to grab that one chair and try my luck in other stores. When I got there, the guy kindly brought out the last chair in stock and even called other stores to see if they have any in stock. The manager was also there -- actually the same one I left my name with! She recognized me and kept apologizing to me saying that they usually always call when people leave their names and she didn't know what happened. Then the guy got off the phone and said the Stevens Creek store is willing to sell me their store sample. When the manager heard this, she says if they're willing to sell their store sample then so is she! So that's how I ended up getting the two occasional chairs! At the end, they even sold me the chairs for 20% off even though the sale already ended! I was so surprised after the chairs were loaded into the car that everything turned out this way. :) Yay. Thank God. We assembled the set the last two evenings and they're super easy to put together. In fact, I did the bench all by myself today. :) I was super happy that the outdoor pillows I got from Ikea (total impulse buy from 2 or 3 weeks ago) was perfect! David immediately sprayed all the pillows with Scotch Guard. They are white after all. I've read some good tips on how to clean outdoor pillows/cushions without tossing them in the wash so I feel pretty confident that they'll hold up. But if not, the pillow covers do come off and can be washed. I really like it. :) It still feels like a blank slate but it definitely anchors the space. Now it's a matter of adding the little pieces and doing a little bit of decorating. At the very least I plan to sew some pillow covers to add some color. :) Oops, in this picture the bench cushion was drying from the Scotch Guard spray so it's missing. :) But here's the bird's eye view from our bedroom balcony. I do want to get a garden stool that can double as a side table in the future. :) Just so it can seat more people in a pinch. Oh, we also moved all the plants to the sunniest part of the garden. Yesterday I planted the lettuce and chives seeds so that's why there are 2 pots of dirt. I still have to plant a slicer tomato. :) Maybe this weekend. Oh my I feel so tired after telling this crazy story so I'm going to bed. Oh before I go, I just want to say that I stayed within my furnishings budget. :) Yes, I pretty much spent my May budget, but I did stay within my budget. How in the world did I do that? Well it took lots of self control for several months. And credit card award dollars. And health awards.
I'm sheepish to say that we're just starting the 2012 garden. Oh my, it's already May. Actually I should say that all I've done so far is think about it. Not much has actually happened except for sweeping and general cleanup of the garden. So this post will just be on what the current state of the garden is. Actually, when I went to take pictures I was impressed by how vigorous nature can be. Many plants thrive in our neglect simply because it's their time, their season. Like the mint below. It was so leggy and chewed up by bugs before but look at these healthy leaves now! I would say the mint has never been so healthy since we took it home. The lemon thyme was fuller before but apparently birds like to snip off its branches to make their nests so we've lost quite a few sprigs last month. It's okay. We are generous people. Judging from the bright green color, though, I think it may be getting a tad too much sun. But it's not serious right now since it's not summer yet. I think I'll move it to a spot with just a little bit more shade tomorrow. And our strawberries from last year is blooming! I'm telling you, these plants are vigorous! Either that or they know they're in the hands of one very black-thumbed owner and know that they need to take care of themselves. Either way, after seeing these flowers I bullishly told David that it seems like strawberries are easy to grow so we should get one that actually tastes good. He gave me a "please come back down to earth" look. The lemon bush is flowering again! I feel like it flowers every two months or so. We have around 20ish lemons on the bush right now. :) It's so funny though. We still buy lemons from time to time to "save" the ones we have. We sort of think they are priceless. Delusional parents? Yea, that's us. And the maidenhair fern. It's been putting up tall, new fronds recently. :) We moved it to the shadiest part of the garden and I think it really likes it. And we have some interesting unidentified sprouts in several places in the garden like this one. David told me that last November he planted tons of cherry seeds (saved from super yummy Ranier cherries we had last year). I would be tickled to no end if any of them sprouted! Before putting last year's tomatoes to sleep, I cut off a sucker and planted it. I have no idea if it will grow, but it's free so it's worth a try. :) I would love to have the same tomatoes as last year. And the hydrangea. I'm growing more convinced everyday that we will not get flowers this year. The hydrangea in our community has no flowers yet but it has plenty of buds. Ours only has leaves. :( Oh well, hopefully it stores enough energy for next year. I'm definitely not cutting off any branches this year. And guess what?? Someone is moving into the birdhouse! I have no idea who it is but there are branches and other things gathering in there. :) At first David thought I was snipping branches and putting it into the birdhouse myself. What. Do I seem like someone who would do that? And this is not in the garden but our faithful $5 orchid has started budding again! This orchid has budded at least 2 times already in this location. :) We feel so proud. Also not in the garden but we got some flowers this weekend because there was a memorial service held at church and they were giving away leftover flowers. David put these bouquets together. Wow. I think I need to step aside because these are so nicely done! And that's it! I'm hoping to at least add lettuce, chives and slicer tomatoes (either Brandywine or Early Girl) to the garden this year. :) Wish me (and our plants) luck.
So I mentioned that we got 3 succulents at Half Moon Bay nursery. And I also mentioned that I had seen this perfect footed bowl for it at Home Goods. Well, I went back last week and it was gone. I searched high and low for any squat glass bowl that remotely resembled it. No such luck. :( And then I saw this. I couldn't wrap my mind around not having a glass one at first, but the size and shape seemed perfect. The crackled finish is definitely not something I'm usually drawn to but I figured this time I will think about it at home rather than let it go and regret later. So I bought it. When I got home, I placed our three wee succulents in and it just looked so nice to me. The lip of the bowl was curled in at just the right place and the blue/brown crackled finish looked surprisingly good with the green! Actually that blue is the same shade as our sectional! Perhaps I should branch out more and try something new once in a while. :) Now if I could only get my lazy self to actually pot them, they would be happy. :)
Haha, so you now know that I basically go to 3 stores: Target, Home Goods and World Market. :) I must have a penchant for tolerating repetition quite well. I can listen to the same song on repeat over and over again. So last night I went to World Market to walk around. It's actually been a while. Like more like 2 weeks, I think, and I was interested in seeing what's new. First I saw these pretty prints. I love the happy colors. They would be lovely in a kitchen. And how cute and punchy are these takeout boxes? :) Would be wonderful as a gift box. Ooo! Jute wrapped pedestal candleholders? Yes please. Love the coziness and versatility of these things. You can put candy in it for a candy bar. Or celery sticks & carrots for a salad bar. Or decorative rocks/ornaments. Or just candles! The jute gives it a nice coastal feel. Don't know why but I always seem to be drawn to these wasp catcher things. Love the color and the ribs. We're seriously considering getting this kitchen island from Ikea. This one has nice legs but is a bit too open for me function wise. Ahh! Outdoor loungers! This has one great reviews online by the way. I like how it has a little pull-out table. Small things like that matter. And the Valencia outdoor set I pinned a while ago is in the stores!!! Ahhh!! I sat on it and really liked it! And it's 20% off this week! Ahh! So a set consisting of a bench, 2 armchairs and coffee table would be $520 (tax already included!). Be still my heart.
So we got on the ferry from Port Townsend and made it to Coupeville. It was actually a really short ride and David was fixated on seeing a whale because apparently a sign on the ferry guaranteed sightings. Right. So the guy spent his time on the ferry staring out the window. And lo and behold we saw one! Okay maybe it was a dolphin. But we saw something! I kid you not! So after we got off the ferry we were on our merry way to see tulips! Yup we're the super lucky folks who are in town just in time for the tulip festival in Skagit Valley! On the way there we crossed this bridge called Deception Pass. Super ominous for such a pretty bridge right? Well, there's a reason why! We walked across the bridge to get a better view of the waters. It's so blue! Do you see the foamy swirls in the following picture? Okay, I figured not. I could not capture it on camera for the life of me. But the reason why this place is called Deception Pass is because there are these swirling undercurrents to this placid looking river. And when Captain George Vancouver was on the water, he felt deceived by the nature of the river. Hence the name Deception Pass. The whole time we were on the bridge, David was imagining the many ways he could fall off the bridge and die. I'm not afraid of heights so I guess I just can't relate. The most hilarious thing is when we got to the other end of the bridge, there was this sign that read: falling can be deadly. The following photo showcases David's "I told you so" face. Compared to the day before, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. We found a shaded spot and took a Lee family photo. Then we got back in the car and made it to Tulip Town - a tulip farm in Skagit Valley. I was super excited by the beautiful tulips in the parking lot! I've never seen multi-colored tulips before! This one is called Green Emperor. And this one doesn't even look like a tulip! It looks so ruffled and beautiful! It's called Monte Carlo. And this is not a tulip, but I thought it was so neat and had to take a photo. And then, we got in the farm and saw this. My oh my oh my. Be-you-tee-ful. There must be tens of thousands of tulips here, neatly sorted in rows. Oh it was just breathtaking. Amazing. It looked like someone took a huge crayon and just colored the field with these vibrant colors. There are so many varieties I had never seen or heard of! Like this variety called Claudia that has pointy petals. And these pink ones are just so gorgeous. I love how it has hues in one flower, not just a single color. We took turns nestling ourselves between rows. You really can't take a bad photo here. These red ones are so red, it's crazy. I'm not a red fan, but I like these. It makes me think of Argentina for some unknown reason. I hope you are not tired of tulip pictures because I just got started. :) Here is David with Monte Carlo. Yup! The ruffly yellow ones. I seriously love these. Seeing a field of tulip as far as the eye can see is pretty incredible. Just incredible. Some varieties have fully bloomed and some have just began, like the yellow ones below called Big Smile. This one reminds of ballerinas' dresses. Elegant, delicate and just pretty. And this one is one of my favorites called Blushing Beauty. It is truly a beauty. And then. My camera ran out of battery! Nooo! I knew I should've charged it the night before! It was sad. Tiana graciously lent me her camera whenever I wanted so there are more pictures than I have access to right now. Maybe that's good news for you. :) But anyway, after the tulips we had dinner at El Granaio, an Italian restaurant in Mt. Vernon. It was really good! And it was a 3-course dinner for $16! Isn't that incredible? After dinner we checked into the hotel and kept Sabbath by watching San Jose's live streaming because there are no Friday services at Seattle Church. The next morning we drove to Shoreline to go to church! It's really neat because Seattle got their chapel not too long ago and will be having dedication soon! Here is the entrance from the parking lot. If I remembered correctly, the property is 1.5 acres so there is plenty of space to expand. The property also had a small house! Like Pacifica! The small house is nice with wood floors and a nice kitchen. And here's the chapel. After church we went to the Tacoma area because we had an appointment to take a formal family photo! I think it's our first one! On the way down we saw Mount Ranier. It was such a clear day and the mountain appeared so large even though it was still 2-3 hours away by car. Here are Mom and Tiana as we wait for the photos to be processed! Then we went back to the hotel just in time for the Manager's Reception where drinks are on the house. I'm totally not an alcohol person but I got this drink that is basically 90% half and half and 10% Baileys. I like it! Can't taste the alcohol at all! Also, we stopped by this Vietnamese place first to grab some dinner. I got the chicken vermicelli and it was so juicy and flavorful and good. I actually ate that whole thing down there. Good job me! Then we finished dinner and went upstairs to wash up. We took turns playing Bejeweled on the Ipad. Oh my goodness. My sister's high score is simply unbeatable and we had many a good laughs trying to beat it. Haha. The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel. It was so crowded that you had to line up for everything. But they had omelets made to order! Really good & yummy breakfast. :) Here we are after we cleaned off our plates. After breakfast, to uphold family tradition, we went upstairs and played some cards. :) Then we packed up, checked out and went to the airport for our early afternoon flight.
We got back to SFO at around 4. And let's just say we had quite an adventure getting home via BART and Caltrain. There was some running up and down stairs with our luggage in hand involved. And a momentary occurrence when we got on the wrong train. But somehow we actually made it on all right trains and got home safely and as planned. :) Last week, David and I took a few days off from work to visit my family in the Seattle region because my Mom turned 60! We arrived at around 10pm on Wednesday evening and got home midnight or so. That evening I doled out the waterproof UGGs I got for Mom, hoping they would fit. Let's just say they were a struggle to put on and take off because of the intertwining shoelaces. Haha. Here I am trying to put the shoes on her feet. *Sigh. I hope they will be useful to her somehow. The next day we woke up at a leisurely 9am and had breakfast as a cute restaurant in downtown Sequim. Then we headed east for Hoh Rainforest! On the way there we all dozed off (except for Dad who drove) but managed to wake up to see this cute moose on the side of the road! Poor thing had its antlers cut off. :( It was raining when we arrived at the rainforest. I suppose it's not called a rainforest for nothing! I was surprised to hear Tiana say the rainforest gets 21 feet of rain a year. Yea, feet not inches! Crazy for us Californians because we are always in some sort of drought. The rainforest was so lush, though. These dainty clovers intermittently covered the forest floors with moss and lichens. Even the trees are clothes in moss. Gorgeous. The trail we took is so aptly named Hall of Mosses trail. The sight was quite something. The trees look like they were wearing fur coats. Or have beards. It was quite a sight. Afterward we went toward the coast to Mora Road (near La Push region and Forks for you Twilight fans) to walk the tide pool there. The wind and the rain were so biting and cold that my umbrella flipped many times. At first I tried to fight it as it was uncomfortable and unwieldy. But eventually after what seems like an hour struggling for control against the weather, I began to just accept it and adjust my umbrella to the rain and wind. It was better, but still rather miserable. After what seems like eternity of bracing against the storm, hunched under my umbrella we were halted at this "river". It's really just a temporary river that formed because of the rain pouring down. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) it meant we could go no further on our trek down to the tide pools. So we turned back. By this time, everyone was pretty much completely wet from waist down. We got in the car and drove back to Port Angeles for Mom's birthday dinner. Everyone was pretty much starving by this time, too. Tiana made a reservation at Michael's Seafood & Steakhouse restaurant and the food is simply divine. It was so good that I would go back if I could. And I'm not a foodie. The shrimp linguine pictured below was my favorite dish and it's just so good! The shrimp were jumbo sized which is why the plate looks so tiny below. Mmmm. I'm salivating. We also had lamb kebabs, steak, crab, clams and a dish called Northwest Seafood Stew. All so good. And so reasonable, too! Then we had dessert. Mom had the tiramisu on the house (which is SO good, too!). Here she is blowing out her lone candle. Anyway, I can rave on and on about this place. Go if you are in the area! After dinner we went back to Sequim to turn in for the evening. Needless to say we were all pretty tired and a bit wet still so it was so nice to go back to a warm and dry home. We all took turns taking showers and turned in for the evening. The next day (Friday), we drove to Port Townsend to catch a ferry to Coupeville(?). We missed our ferry so we ended up walking in the cute Port Townsend downtown. Isn't this whale coin bank so cute? I really liked this store called Joglo, which sold Javanese furniture. This marble sink is so smooth and gorgeous. $300. Reasonable, I think. They also had these great natural tiles. They go for around $9/sq ft. I also really liked this solid stone stool. Such a versatile piece for both indoors or outdoors. Unlike wood or metal, there is no need to apply oil or paint over rust spots to keep it in tip top shape. At around $200 I thought it was a really good price given that a fake and hollow pebble table from West Elm is $150. Well! Eventually we got on a ferry for Coupeville an hour later. Since this post is getting so long already so I'll continue with Part II of our trip later. :)
